Two management principles were emphasized in Ivaco’s transition to ISO 9001:2000. First, management by process provided an opportunity to improve interaction between departments, and secondly, customer focus provided important feedback on customer perception. This paper will present some of the challenges of this transition, with a special focus on the definition of processes and sub-processes, internal audits, customer satisfaction, and integration of ISO 17025.
