Nexans’ Montreal copper rod mill installed a Mechanical Vapor Recompression system to separate and recover sulfuric acid and water from the acid-pickling rinse circuit. This was the first installation of its kind in North America. This highly efficient technology increased the rinse water flow rate while recovering the acid-copper solution. This paper describes the installation and performance of this innovative technology.
