Description

By Jose M. Castro, The University of Arizona, USA
2003

To make better decisions about investing in new equipment for controlling the process and machinery used to produce copper LAN cables, it is important to know how they perform relative to their transmission capacity limit. In this paper, the author uses the Shannon Theory of information to estimate the maximum capacity of copper LAN cables and analyzes the constraints necessary to attain the theoretical capacity.
