Stability of optical fiber coating in hot (85ºC) water in terms of strength degradation and adhesion to glass can be used to evaluate robustness of the coating system for mechanical reliability requirements. This paper is intended to relate hot water aging performance of silica optical fiber with various unaged coating-related parameters like strip force, degree of curing of primary and secondary coating and coating geometry for single UV coating characteristics.
