Increase in moisture is a common source of deterioration of insulation properties and premature aging of an oil-paper insulated system. This paper presents preliminary results of dielectric response measurement with diagnostic tools for power cable and systems. Several testing methods, such as tana measurement over a certain frequency range (also known as frequency doman dielectric spectroscopy), are discussed, as is the relationship between moisture content and time.
