This paper investigates a process of chemical copper coating for low-carbon steel wires with different diameters. A primary goal of this study was to elaborate on a method for theoretical prediction of copper thickness and a comparison of the results of calculation with experimental data for variants in drawing welding wire. For all tested wires, copper coating thickness and corrosion resistance were measured. It was proven that wires manufactured from an SG2 steel with diameters of 0.6, 0.8, 1.2, and 1.6 mm met relevant standards.
