Experimental evidence showed that amorphous oxide has a high time constant value, low open-circuit potential, and negative current density at open-circuit potential. Trace thrombosis was found for a wire passivated with amorphous oxide film, while a high degree of thrombosis was detected for a wire passivated with polycrystalline oxide film. These characteristics could make amorphous oxide film the best candidate for use on cardiovascular devices.
