The effect of changes in the temperature and the stretching levels of the stress-relieving treatments of prestressing steel wires is discussed. Five industrial treatments, in the range of the commercial stabilizing of prestressing wires, are studied, combining three temperatures and three stretching force levels. After the treatments, mechanical properties have been ascertained by means of tensile tests and residual stresses have been measured by X-ray and neutron diffraction.
