Ductile fractures after torsion test for bead wire is a primary goal for the steel wire manufacturers. Studies include the identification of the critical parameters that influence torsional ductility and the analysis of fractographic samples by optical metallography and sophisticated high resolution scanning electron microscopy. Based on this study, sources of delamination are located, and a new classification of fracture ends is presented.
